Study in Ireland - Summer Celtic Studies Program Seton Hall > News & Events Thursday, January 29, 2009 by: Maura Andreula
The Institute for the Advancement of Teaching, Learning and
Leading in International Schools is proud to offer a two-week,
three credit, summer intensive course, offered at Innisfree
International College in Sligo, Ireland. The program, offered as either
an undergraduate or graduate course, utilizes various approaches which
immerse students in Irish history and culture. Classroom lectures and
activities focusing on Irish history, literature, archaeology,
politics, mythology, sports, and music are supplemented with visits to
nearby literary, historical, and archaeological sites led by
instructors. Specifically, the course includes field trips to
Carrowmore Megalithic Cemetery, local beaches renowned for surfing such
as Rosses Point, and Parke's Castle.
Nestled on the shores of the picturesque Lough Gill, Innisfree
International College provides students with an ideal environment in
which to gain international experience, study, learn, reflect, or
simply be inspired. While visiting the College, students have access to
all of the necessary facilities -- lecture halls, an auditorium, a
well-equipped library, and excellent IT services. Students will be
staying in comfortable and spacious three and four bedroom apartments.
The program will be held from June 6-20, 2009. The $3,500 fee is
totally inclusive, encompassing tuition, airfare, bus tours, beach
visits, Irish dancing lessons, a tour of Dublin, a Gaelic football
match, and all accommodations and meals.
