This comprehensive PBS documentary about Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. is one of the most detailed accounts of the civil rights leader's life and extraordinary accomplishments.

Who Killed Martin Luther King? 
British documentarian John Edginton's probing film about the disturbing, unanswered questions concerning the murder of the twentieth century's most acclaimed civil rights activist.
 
February 4
The Murder of Fred Hampton
This gripping, long-lost film by Mike Gray examines the life, times, and extremely troubling death of Fred Hampton, leader of the Chicago Black Panther Party and renowned urban organizer whose free breakfast program helped shape public policy.
 
February 11
SPECIAL EVENT -- REVOLUTION `67
Marylou and Jerome Bongiorno's film Revolution '67 examines the Newark riot of 1967 and its significance both to the changing nature of American race relations and the American city as center of industrial production. NOTE: The filmmakers will be present to introduce the film and lead discussion.

Mandingo 
Termed a neglected masterpiece by many critics, this 1976 film by Richard Fleisher is an anti-Gone With the Wind, an uncompromising, de-romanticized portrayal of the savage cruelty of the Southern antebellum slave system.

On Orientalism
This film is a one-hour conversation with Edward Said, the late, renowned Columbia University scholar of comparative literature and expert on the Middle East. Said discusses popular culture's depiction of the “Orient” and the consistently distorted representation of Muslim and Arab people.
 
March 25
Verdict on Auschwitz
The Nuremberg trials and their depiction in the film have tended to overshadow the trials of the commandants and executioners at Auschwitz, the most notorious site of the Holocaust. This documentary by Rolf Bickel and Dietrich Wagner adds enormously to our knowledge of this case.

Ghosts, dark rooms, and computers are key elements in this fantasy story
about the internet, communication breakdown, and the loneliness of people

The 11th Hour
Narrated by Leonardo DiCaprio, this overlooked film documents the many ecological challenges facing planet Earth, with climate change being only one - admittedly major - item on the list.
