The Center for Vocation and Servant Leadership sponsors an annual
Public Service Month Essay Contest, open to all undergraduate and
graduate students. The essay is due on Monday, February 9, 2009,
and should be 600-650 words in length.
The Public Service Month essay asks our writers to answer four
questions that will help us better understand the challenges of
leadership in fulfilling the University's mission to develop servant
leaders.
What is leadership?
What is service?
What is the difference between the two?
Explain how the two can go together.
The winners will be announced at 7 p.m. on Monday, February 23, 2009
at the Servant Leader Awards Ceremony. The top three winners will
receive prizes of $300, $150, and $50 respectively, and will be asked
to publicly read their essays. Participation is encouraged even if
attendance at the Awards Ceremony is not possible.
Essays can be submitted by e-mail to csl@shu.edu or dropped off at the
Center for Vocation and Servant Leadership, Presidents Hall, Room 11,
Lower Level.
