Clare Boothe Luce Students Research Presentations

The Henry Luce Foundation established the Clare Boothe Luce (CBL) Program “to encourage women to enter, study, graduate and teach” in fields where there have seemingly been obstacles to their advancement. Seton Hall University female students pursuing degrees in all physical sciences, mathematics, computer science and all areas of engineering are eligible for this award. The students work closely with a CBL mentor at Seton Hall.
 
The Clare Boothe Luce Committee and the Office of Grants and Research are proud to host the annual CBL student presentations. The event will take place on Friday, January 23, 2009 from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. in Beck Rooms A/B of Walsh Library.
 
The CBL scholars presenting and their mentors are as follow:
 

  • Tyler Batchelor and Dr. Alexander Fadeev, Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry
    Title: Non-Porous Silica Spheres
  • Michelle Houck and Dr. John T. Saccoman, Department of Mathematics and Computer Science
    Title: A surgery reducing the number of spanning trees for threshold graphs having a specified degree condition
  • Katherine Konchalski and Dr. Cecilia Marzabadi, Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry
    Title: Povarov Reaction with Glycals
  • Michelle Jamer and Dr. M. Alper Sahiner, Department of Physics
    Title: Electrical Characterization of Semiconductor Thin-Films Using LABVIEW Software Interface
  • Adriana Gavrilciuc and Dr. Allan Blake, Department of Biological Sciences
    Title: ELISA Assay for Determining TNF-alpha Secretion and Inhibtion in various treatments of RAW 264.7 Mouse Cells
  • Jerianne M. Sinex and Dr. Nicholas Snow, Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry
    Title: Analyzing Residual Solvents using Two Dimensional Gas Chromatography Mass Spectrometry
