Judith C. Stark, Ph.D. was among a group of community citizen-activists recently honored for their work on the Hudson River Walkway.During an evening of celebration marking the 20th anniversary of the Hudson River Waterfront Conservancy of New Jersey, Dr. Stark was among those citizens singled out for their efforts to provide public access to the Jersey side of New York Harbor. In addition to citizen-activists, other distinguished honorees included former Governor Brendan Byrne and John Weingart, former director of New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection.
The Hudson River Walkway, threading along the waterfront from the George Washington Bridge to the southern tip of Bayonne, is a 30-foot wide path that is designed to provide public access to the Hudson River and New York Harbor. Although a number of municipalities have completed their portion of the walkway, some sections remain to be completed and others are in need of maintenance and repair.
Dr. Stark, a long time environmental activist, is a professor of Philosophy and director of Environmental Studies at Seton Hall University.
