Photo of Rev. Dr. Forrest PritchettThe Joseph A. Unanue Latino Institute and MLK Student Association are together co-sponsoring a panel in honor of Black History Month. The ABC Panel, standing for African Diaspora, Black Identity, and Colorism, will be taking place at 6 p.m. on February 26 in the Jubilee Auditorium.

The event is the first of its kind at Seton Hall. The panel will feature a diverse group of students, faculty, and staff whose backgrounds span the breadth of the African diaspora. The event aims to serve as a round-table conversation where the panelists will discuss their perspectives on activism, identity in the Black community, as well as the dynamics of colorism within said community.

Through the dialogue between speakers, the event will explore different perspectives and enable better relationships to be fostered between peers and colleagues.

The panel will be moderated by Rev. Dr. Forrest Pritchett, director of Seton Hall University's Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Leadership Program, and will feature esteemed faculty members including Dr. Juan Rios of the Department of Sociology, Anthropology & Social Work, Dr. Binneh Minteh of the School of Diplomacy, and other accomplished academics. The second panel will be comprised of Seton Hall student leaders, including Jimmy Bedoya, Osei Lindsay, and others.

Co-sponsors for the event include MLKSA, Black Men of Standard, African Student Association, Adelante, Black Student Union, Alpha Phi Alpha, and Delta Sigma Theta.
