Seton Hall University and WCBS 880 AM — the Yankees Radio Network — are teaming up to support Strikeouts for Scholarships, a program in honor of Ed Lucas '62, longtime baseball reporter and analyst. Ed Lucas lost his sight shortly after watching Bobby Thompson hit "The shot heard 'round the world" in 1951. Your Chance to Win Big!
About Ed Lucas During a sandlot baseball game when he was 12, a line drive to his head blinded him. In spite of his disability, Ed went on to realize his dreams by completing his communications degree at Seton Hall and becoming a sportscaster and journalist. Each time a Yankees pitcher strikes out an opposing batter, WCBS 880 AM will donate $10 to the Ed Lucas Scholarship Fund. Show your admiration for Ed and all he’s achieved in spite of his blindness, and for the Yankees, by donating $10 to the fund. The Ed Lucas Scholarship will be awarded to Seton Hall students aid who meet the criteria of the Americans with Disabilities Act. The scholarships will be awarded next spring.
