Authenticity and Prayer: Sustenance for Personal and Professional Life

March 31, 2014
Directed by Dr. Julie Burkey

Teresa of Avila said, “Authentic prayer changes us - unmasks us…”  Prayer is the key to achieving authenticity in the spiritual life - and all of life.  Taking examples from Celtic prayer and the prayer life of several saints, we will discuss how authentic prayer can center us, while helping us to become authentically who we are in both our personal and professional lives.

Julie V. Burkey, D.Min., is Coordinator for Workplace Spirituality & Evangelization, and adjunct professor for pastoral theology at Immaculate Conception Seminary School of Theology where she teaches Theology of Work and Catholic Evangelization.  Her diverse background includes three years as a Pastoral Associate for Stewardship & Evangelization in a parish of the Archdiocese of Newark, and twelve years as Principal of her own executive search firm.
