First Faculty Retreat, Leadership and Communion: The Blessing of Peacemaking
Directed by Dr. Andrea Bartoli
October 1, 2014
"Blessed are the peacemakers," said Jesus in the Sermon on the Mount (Matthew 5, 9). Making peace is a ministry that touches personal daily lives as well as large multitudes. By using some of the initiatives of John XXIII, Paul VI, and John Paul II as examples, we will explore the call to making history as shared responsibility.
Dr. Bartoli is the Dean of the School of Diplomacy and International Relations. He works primarily on peacemaking and genocide prevention. He is a Senior Fellow at the S-CAR Center for Peacemaking Practice, and the founding director of Columbia University's Center for International Conflict Resolution. Among his publications are: Negotiating Peace: The Role of Non-Governmental Organizations (2013); Attracted to Conflict (2013).
