As a Catholic community, and as a university, Seton Hall is committed – by who we are and what we do – to the fundamental and enduring values of interpersonal relationship and individual dignity that are critical to the foundation of any free and vibrant society. | |
The Human Relations Council (HRC), formed in 1987, celebrates and fosters Seton Hall University's diversity. The primary goal is to create the most informed and collaborative university community possible. The council comprises students, faculty, staff and administrators, and it promotes breaking down barriers, on campus and beyond.
The HRC provides co-sponsorships, advertising, volunteers, and advice to make sure Seton Hall's programs realize their potential. One of the main objectives is to provide a fun and entertaining learning environment.
Seton Hall's mission and identity as a Catholic university is inextricably linked to creating and maintaining successful human relations. The HRC believes that if smaller communities, like Seton Hall's, can succeed, then the whole of humanity can also succeed. Since the council’s formation, it has institutionalized the University's commitment to a multicultural environment, developed mechanisms to address mistrust of others and foster greater communication, enhanced educational opportunities for individuals who have been excluded from mainstream society, ensured that SHU's curricula reflect the multicultural composition of our society and the global perspective of new international realities, and, well, tried to make sure Seton Hall's students can have fun while working on these goals.
