Seton Hall University recently launched Pirate Connect, a new professional development platform that will allow students to virtually connect with over 100,000 alumni worldwide who represent a broad range of industries. Networking continues to be the most effective method for gaining mentorship advice, exploring internship opportunities, being referred and introduced to other influencers and, of course, finding employment. Pirate Connect brings 21st century innovation to enhance the networking experience, streamlining the process and making it more effective and easier to build relationships with fellow alumni who are interested in guiding a Seton Hall student's professional growth.
The database consists of participating alumni who have agreed to offer everything from a phone call or a casual chat over a cup of coffee, to informational meetings and interviews to discuss potential opportunities. References play a critical role in building a network of personal stakeholders, and the platform makes it simple to be introduced among industry colleagues who all have their shared experience as a Seton Hall student to begin the conversation.
This valuable professional development resource is fully integrated with social networks and allows the pre-approved user to also access job listings, stay up-to-date on news and campus events, join one of many groups dedicated to specific interests – or find out how to create a new group that can take one's network in a whole new direction.
The Pirate Connect platform was officially launched in June to welcome what has already become a wealth of alumni partnerships. An invitation for students to create their personal profiles will take place when they return to campus at the start of the fall semester.
