Stillman School Team Wins CFA's NY Regional Competition
The Stillman School's CFA Institute Research Challenge Team has won the NY Region Championship, which took place on March 10. The team is comprised of three MBA students: Anthony Pescetto, Jonathan Glincman and Katie McCarthy; and two undergraduates: John Gallagher, a finance major, and Mark Moskwa, an economics major.
The students delivered their winning presentation against teams from Binghamton, Fordham and Marist. Beginning with a competitive set of 22 universities and colleges, and after months of equity research and analysis, the team now advances to the Americas Regional in Seattle. There, they will compete against regional champions from across the country.
"This victory is testimony to the high-quality educational experience provided by Seton Hall – both in and beyond the classroom. It confirms that Stillman students are second to none in compellingly putting concepts into practice within an interdisciplinary setting, and reminds us that the future is in good hands," said Tony Loviscek, team advisor and chair of the Department of Finance.
Said Team Captain Anthony Pescetto, "The team and I are very excited
about representing both Seton Hall University and the New York Region in
Seattle. We have been working since October to earn the title as #1 in
the New York Region and now we hope to earn the same title at the
America's Competition in April. The competition will be fierce, but we
will continue to put the hours in and put our best foot forward when we
arrive in Seattle."
This is the eleventh time that a Stillman School team has
earned a "Final Four" spot in the NY Regional competition and the third
time the team has won top regional honors. In 2006 and 2007, Stillman
became the first School to have a team win the NY regional competition
two years in a row.
The winner of the Americas Regional Competition (April 6-7) will advance to the CFA Global Final, and compete against teams from around the world.
The CFA Institute has more than 120,000 members and is responsible for the administration of the Chartered Financial Analyst credential.
