Mindy Diamond - Going for it: Pushing Past Fear and Failure to Achieve Success

Mindy started Diamond Consultants in 1998 with nothing more than a pad, pen and phone, working from the bedroom floor in her home. The business became a "third child" that she nurtured and developed into one of the leading consulting and recruiting firms for financial advisors in the country.

Drawing from her own entrepreneurial experience, Mindy developed an organization that employs a unique relationship-driven approach that helps individuals and organizations achieve what she calls their "Best Business Life". By counseling advisors on how to ask the right questions and "dig deep", she helps them look at all of the opportunities available to find the one that allows them to reach their full potential. That is, to best serve their clients and live a life that is in sync with their own beliefs and values.

Knowing full well that no single solution works for every advisor or every team, her personal consultative approach has been described as "selfless and objective", and has transformed many careers in the advisory world. So when the industry's most sophisticated advisors and teams are surveying the landscape, they call upon Mindy, who has guided some of the biggest and brightest to new levels of success. And when multi-generational teams with complex businesses are ready to outline the best path for the next phase of their business, they rely upon Mindy's vast experience and understanding of how to manage the often disparate sensibilities of all parties involved.

Her "How to Achieve Your Best Business Life" keynote is now a website and is being further developed into a book.

Mindy recently released an educational podcast series for financial advisors considering the independent model. "Mindy Diamond on Independence" is available on the Diamond Consultants website, as well as iTunes, Google Play and other media outlets.

Among her accolades, she was named by NJBIZ magazine as one of New Jersey's Best 50 Women in Business.

The 1984 graduate from the George Washington University holds a Bachelor of Accountancy degree.

Mindy strives to "unplug" from Diamond Consultants when she can ("this is the one thing I really need to work on") and live her own Best Business Life, which includes spending quality time with her family, travel, golf, reading and exercise. A lifelong learner, Mindy's passion for excellence and desire to help others are qualities that many say are not learned, just part of her DNA.

Patricia Haverland, CFA - Managing Institutional Investments" Hoping for the Best – Planning for the Worst

Pat Haverland is responsible for investment management, governance, reporting, and accounting for Siemens' North American retirement plan investments totaling $15 billion. Prior to her current position with Siemens, Pat managed retirement plan assets for Black & Decker, Pharmacia, Marsh & McLennan, and MetLife. She has worked as a retirement plan investment professional for twenty-five years. In 2016 Pat was appointed by the U.S. Secretary of Labor to a three-year term as an Employer Representative on the Department of Labor's Advisory Council on Employee Welfare and Pension Benefit Plans. She is also a member of the Financial Engines Client Advisory Council providing input for the company's initiatives on employee financial wellness and comprehensive financial planning solutions. Having served as a member of pension committees in the US, Canada, the UK and Japan, Pat has a broad understanding of the design, governance, financial, compliance, operational, communication and employee-related aspects of retirement plans in the US and internationally. Pat began her career with JP Morgan as a textile and apparel industry analyst and has held corporate roles in mergers & acquisitions and corporate finance. She is on the Leadership Council for Seton Hall University's Stillman School of Business and a member of the Financial Women's Association. Pat and her husband serve of co-chairs of Loyola University Maryland's Parents Council. Pat is a CFA charterholder and earned a B.A. in economics and political science from Duke University and an M.B.A. in finance from Columbia University.

Vivian Maese - Anatomy of a FinTech Transaction

Vivian Maese is a partner in the New York office of Latham & Watkins. Ms. Maese is Co-chair of the Financial Institutions Industry Group and Co-chair of the FinTech Industry Group, and a member of the Corporate Department. She is also an influential member of the Emerging Company Practice. Her practice focuses primarily on complex strategic and corporate technology transactions in the financial services industry, with a focus on technology, regulation, and compliance.

Betsi Hill has held major managing director positions as Director of Research for several Corporate Credit teams, which includes the Strategic Credit strategies. Betsi is a recognized Senior Credit Analyst. Her corporate roles include Citicorp, Carlton Hill Global Capital, Credit Suisse, and most recently Napier Park Global Capital. Her research team was responsible for identifying trading and risk management opportunities associated with the 700 counterparties comprising CS's $30 billion North American loan portfolio and $20 billion credit default swap portfolio. Prior to CSFB, Betsi worked at Alliance Capital from as a High Yield, Investment Grade and Emerging Market Corporate Analyst covering several sectors including Telecom, Cable, Media, Healthcare and Retail. Early in her career Betsi worked for Prudential Securities where her responsibilities including Proprietary Trading as well as Investment Grade sell-side coverage of Industrials and Yankees and as a Corporate Credit Analyst and Trader for Sun Life Assurance Company of Canada and Liberty Mutual Insurance Company. Betsi is a Chartered Financial Analyst. Betsi received her MS in Finance from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Betsi received a BS in Mathematics and Economics from University of Wisconsin-Madison.

Susan Webb - The Importance of Asset Class Diversification in Managing a Portfolio

CIO-founder and President/CIO of Appomattox. In this capacity, she is a member of the Investment Committee responsible for identifying and evaluating managers as well as managing portfolios.

Prior to co-founding Appomattox, she was Head of First Atlas Capital, Inc., the SEC Registered Advisor of Atlas Capital, a multi-billion dollar global fund of hedge funds manager. She was a member of the Global Investment Committee and launched, with Weston Capital, the Weston Atlas Manager Seeding Platform.

Ms. Webb's career in finance spans over 30 years where she developed an expertise in trading, financing, and structuring derivatives. Ms. Webb began her career at Irving Trust in 1984 where she completed the credit analyst program and worked in loan work outs. She left after 2 years and joined trading desks for five years each at Citibank, Paribas Capital Markets and CIBC. While there she either joined, or set up and ran, derivative trading groups including interest rate, currency, equity, credit and hedge fund structuring. In 2000, she joined Caisse des Depots as a Managing Director and established their credit derivative and synthetic CLO and hedge fund structuring business in the US. She has 17 years direct experience managing diversified multi-asset portfolios.

Susan Webb is a board member for GTI Capital Group, and investment firm focused on opportunities in India. Ms. Webb is on the board of High Water Women, a non-profit foundation that encourages financial education of women and youth. She is also on the advisory board of Catalyst Financial Partners, a group that promotes small and emerging managers in the financial industry. Susan is an Elder, and a former head of stewardship at the Brick Church.

She received a BA from the University of Virginia and an MBA from the Darden School at the University of Virginia.

Amruta has a BS in IT Engineering from the University of Pune, India. She started her career as a .NET developer. She has been with Verizon Wireless for almost 7 years, having started with the Supply Chain IT group as a developer and then moved on to managing a suite of Supply Chain applications. She was engaged in the SAP implementation project for Verizon Wireless as one of the leads from Supply Chain Business. She has been following the digital currency and blockchain technology space, and is involved in projects investigating the applications of blockchain in Supply Chain.
