College of Arts and Science to Host First Business Boot Camp  

Get Hired BootcampThe College of Arts and Sciences is hosting its very first Business Boot Camp this May. The event is a unique opportunity for College of Arts and Sciences upper classmen (rising Juniors and Seniors) to hone and grow transferable skills and build their portfolio before they step into the real world. Room and board will be provided to all accepted students. The Boot Camp will take place from May 16th to May 19th, and all applications are due by March 31st, 2017.

The first 3 days of this experience are structured as an intensive workshop style curriculum, culminating in a field experience to one of two companies on the 4th and final day. Each day would begin with a Continental Breakfast at 9:00 in the Dean's Conference Room in Fahy Hall, and each of the first 3 days would follow the schedule below:

  • 9:00 Continental Breakfast
  • 9:30 Session I
  • 10:30 Break 
  • 10:45 Session II
  • 12:00 Lunch 
  • 1:00 Session III 
  • 3:00 Group Project/Individual Development/Mock Interviews 
  • 5:00 Dinner with Alumni working in the Business world

Becoming LinkedIn and Having a Social Media Presence
How to Speak the Business Language
The Stock Market and Wall Street
Developing Your Brand
The Art of the 30 Second Interview (elevator interview)
Networking and Building an Alliance
Leadership in the 21st Century
Resume/Cover Letter Development and Interviewing
Researching a Best Fit Company
Understanding and Formulating a Budget and Depreciation
