Please join us for the 3rd Annual Eco-Fest on the Green on Wednesday, April 19th. This celebration starts at 12:15 p.m. and will include food, music, games, contests and prizes.
At 2:00 p.m. we will have a gratitude circle in the center of the green where the entire campus community is welcome to join and say thank you to Mother Earth for her beauty and abundance and reflect on the web of life that supports us all, every second of every day.
The topics that the Environmental Studies students will be talking about at their tables will be:
- Bee the Buzz: Honeybees and pollinators…free tasting of local organic honey varieties.
- Say no to GMO: Genetically modified food…negative impacts on human health and the planet.
- Companies that Care: (about people and the Earth): Ben & Jerry's Ice Cream and Patagonia.
- Non-Profits that Care (about people and the Earth): local non-profits Food & Water Watch and NJ Highlands Coalition
As part of their Environmental Studies classes, students have been planting seeds and growing flowers, herbs and vegetables in the greenhouse on the rooftop of McNulty, getting ready to display the plants at their tables and have them for prizes and giveaways.
The mascots for the KanJam teams are Ollie the Orca Whale and Ellie the Emperor Penguin.
Prizes for the hula hoop contest and other games will be provided by our corporate sponsor Coca Cola (t-shirts, hats, sunglasses).
All student groups are welcome to have tables on the green from 12:00 - 4:00 p.m. (set up starts at 11:30 a.m.). Please contact the Ecology Club to reserve a spot with a table and chairs and be part of the celebration.
Event sponsors: Office of Facilities Engineering and Business Affairs, Coca Cola, and Gourmet Dining.
