Core Waiver
Depending on your program of study and the specific degree requirements of your college/school Seton Hall accepts up to 100 college level transfer credits with a grade of "C" or better. Many of the core requirements will be waived for any student who has an Associates of Arts (AA) or Associates of Science (AS) degree. However, students with Associates of Applied Science (AAS) degree are not eligible for the core waiver.
Transfer Credit Evaluation
An evaluation of transfer credits (an advanced-standing evaluation) begins after a student is accepted for admission to the University. An advanced-standing evaluation determines the number of credits that transferred from previous institutions to Seton Hall University, and determines the Seton Hall equivalent of previous coursework. Generally, the advanced standing evaluation is sent to accepted students with the acceptance package.
The University requires that all transcripts be original. Transcripts not in English must be accompanied by a certified English translation. No documents submitted as part of the application process will be returned nor will any requests be honored. Seton Hall requires international applications to have all transcripts from institutions not accredited in the United States or Canada to be evaluated by one of the following agencies:
All evaluations must be course-by-course evaluations, as confirmation of course level and degree equivalency. Applications submitted without credential evaluations will not be considered for admission or transfer credit evaluation. Students are responsible for all costs associated with credential evaluations.
The transfer admission counselor in Office & Admissions prepares the advanced-standing evaluation. Once the evaluation is received, students should contact their academic department to set up an appointment to discuss this advanced-standing evaluation. This meeting will:
- Finalize the advanced standing evaluation;
- Determine the remaining credits and courses required to complete the intended degree at Seton Hall; and
- Help with course selection and registration for the upcoming semester.
Provided below is a resource list to help you identify the appropriate department you need to contact to begin this process after you have been admitted and received your advance-standing evaluation.
