On the application form, please indicate your choice of major. Please select only one major. If you select more than one major, we will consider your major to be Pre-Major - Arts. If you do not meet the admission criteria for your major of choice but meet general University admission criteria, you will be accepted as a Pre-Major - Arts major.

Pre-Professional Programs: Pre-professional programs are not majors, therefore the University does not grant a degree in these fields. If you decide to participate in one of the pre-professional programs, you must also select a major. Selection of a pre-professional program will allow you to receive advisement and preparation in your field of interest. If you do not select a major and only select a pre-professional program, we will consider you to be an Undecided - Arts major.

Special Programs for New Jersey Residents ONLY: The Educational Opportunity Fund (EOF) is available to residents of New Jersey who are academically and economically disadvantaged. If you apply to this program, you will be required to submit your family's most recent tax returns and come to campus for an interview. If you have questions about the EOF program, please contact (973) 761-9160.

Application Consideration

Each application received at Seton Hall is evaluated on an individual basis. Grades and test scores are given primary importance; curriculum, essay, references and activities outside the classroom are also strongly considered in the review process.

Last year, the average student who entered Seton Hall scored between 1600-1700 on the SAT and had a B (3.2 unweighted on an 4.0 scale) grade point average.Other factors, such as the rigor of your academic curriculum, extra-curricular activities, community service involvement, leadership potential, writing skills and your recommendations, which may also reveal preparation for the rigor of studies at Seton Hall, are also considered. And, of course, the best way for us to learn about you is through your written personal essay. Be creative, be original and be yourself.

Academics
