Alumni & Friends

Alumni Clubs are groups of University graduates formed around a specific interest area, like former members of a club, organization, fraternity or sorority. Regional Chapters are groups based in specific geographic locations. The Alumni Relations Team is ready to help you get involved by forming a Chapter or Club. If you would like more information about starting a Club based around a specific area of interest please contact Alumni Relations at (800) 992-GRAD. If you are interested in starting a Regional Chapter in your area please take a few moments to read the information below to learn about what's involved. We look forward to hearing from you soon.

How can I start forming an alumni chapter in my area?
Getting started is easier than you may think. The first step in forming a Chapter is deciding that you are willing to serve as a Chapter volunteer. Chapter volunteers across the country organize local alumni and keep them connected to Seton Hall. As a founding Chapter volunteer you and a group of other interested area graduates will be responsible for the overall operation of the chapter, with assistance from the Office of Alumni Relations. The amount of time you spend on your chapter is up to you, you are not expected to make your Regional Chapter your new full-time job. As your Chapter begins to grow so too will your volunteer board. For instance, the Washington, D.C. Chapter is currently operated by a board of 8 alumni representatives.

I'm ready...what do I do next?
Once you have decided that you're ready to become a Chapter Board Member, it's time to fill out the "Chapter Interest Form" (link to newly created Chapter Interest Form). Your form will be reviewed by Alumni Relations and you will be contacted shortly thereafter. Once your form is approved it will be time to begin contacting alumni in your area. Alumni Relations will supply you with a list of graduates who live within a certain geographic range. Once you receive your list you can contact local alumni to gauge their interest in getting involved and participating in a kick-off event. You will also want to ask each graduate if he/she is interested in helping you get the group off the ground by taking part of your list to make contacts on behalf of the Chapter.

How will the Office of Alumni Relations help me?
The Alumni Team is here to assist you in your efforts. While Chapter Leaders are responsible for organizing events and gauging group interest in certain activities, you won't be out on your own. Alumni Relations will act as a resource for you to mail invitations, suggest event and meeting ideas and provide other forms of support. The University's Regional Chapter coordinator works directly with all new and established groups to assist in outreach to area graduates, training and support.

What types of activities do current chapters participate in?
Current Alumni Chapters hold social events such as cocktail parties, receptions for Seton Hall guest speakers and Sesquicentennial parties. Some chapters choose to hold networking events such as business card exchanges. Other popular events include service activities, outings to athletic events and Seton Hall Pirate game watches. Each summer Seton Hall holds send-off events for incoming freshman around the country as well.
