Wanting to increase her knowledge in the strategic communications field, Tiffanie Blackmon-Jones decided that it would be best to pursue an advanced degree. Blackmon-Jones graduated from Seton Hall with a master’s degree in Strategic Communication and Leadership in 2017 from the College of Communication and the Arts.
Having previously served as a mid-level communications and public relations professional for the third largest public independent school district in the state of Texas, Blackmon-Jones combined her graduate degree with two professional certificates: one in Change Communication and Leadership and a second in Leading and Communicating Across Cultures.
The combination of an advanced degree along with her professional certifications propelled Blackmon-Jones into a leadership role in a public independent school district. She is tasked with developing multi-pronged strategies to support the district's strategic and community engagement goals. Her work includes spearheading an inter-local marketing collaborative which aims to develop a unified messaging and marketing strategy that promotes the city, the public independent school district and the local chamber of commerce and economic development commission in which she works. Tiffanie's hard work resulted in nationwide recognition. She was listed as a top professional in the National School Public Relations Association's (NSPRA) 2017 Top 35 School Communications Professionals Under 35 across the United States.
"Seton Hall's Strategic Communication and Leadership Program provided me the insight, research and engagement to pursue the advancement I desired in my career. My professors were key in providing the communication and responsiveness I needed in an online program to enhance my curricular experience in this hybrid graduate program. The strategic leadership program challenged my thinking, approach to strategy and leadership and has made a significant difference in the way that I approach my work and career."
Tiffanie is one of the 100 alumni profiles Seton Hall Alumni Relations will feature this year in celebration of reaching an alumni network of 100,000. To read more about what great minds do at Seton Hall, click here.
