Alumni Bring Magic to Children in NJ Through Halloween Costume Drive

Kids in costume during Halloween 320 picPrincesses, superheroes, witches and ghosts, thanks to costume donations from Seton Hall alumni, thousands of children were able to dress up and take part in their favorite Halloween festivities. The Seton Hall Office of Alumni Relations and Annual Giving partnered with Jersey Cares for their annual Halloween Costume Drive. Through the costume drive, Jersey Cares aims to bring imagination and magic to life for children living in under-served communities across New Jersey.

Because of alumni participation, Seton Hall was able to provide Jersey Cares with more than 15 bags of costumes, helping the organization achieve a record number of 4,000 costumes collected. These were distributed to 25 agencies throughout the state of New Jersey.

Whether it was through trick-or-treating, costume competitions or school parades, the donations of all our Pirates provided children with an opportunity to enjoy this day.

As Seton Hall gears up for Christmas, the entire community is called upon to participate in another drive, this one, to bring joy to under-served children on Christmas morning. Whether you are near or far from campus, you can be part of this annual tradition lead by the Seton Hall Division of Volunteer Efforts. Toys will be delivered locally to Don Bosco Youth Center, South Orange Maplewood School District, St. John’s Soup Kitchen and North Star Academy in Newark. Additional toys will be sent to children in Wayne County, West Virginia. Simply send or drop off unwrapped toys to the following address:

457 Centre Street
South Orange, NJ 07079

All toys are considered a gift in-kind and may be tax-deductible, please include a copy of toy receipt. Toys must be received by Monday, December 10.
