Created by Immaculate Conception Seminary School of Theology as part of the Institute for Christian Spirituality, the Center for Diaconal Formation is designed to provide graduate-level intellectual formation for permanent diaconate candidates.
Our program of study focuses on the academic norms outlined in the National Directory for the Formation, Ministry and Life of Permanent Deacons in the United States covering Sacred Scripture, Theology of God, Christian Anthropology, Christology, Ecclesiology, Worship, Liturgy, Sacraments, Moral Theology and Canon Law. The Center for Diaconal Formation will provide formation for the Diocese of Paterson permanent diaconate program.
Academic Programs
Graduate-level courses are offered through Immaculate Conception Seminary School of Theology and are taught by Seminary faculty. A student formally matriculated into our graduate-level program upon successful completion receives a Master’s Degree in Theology with a Systematic concentration and/or a Certificate in Diaconal Ministry.
