Tuition Payment Policy

Tuition Payment Methods
Students may choose to pay their bill online,by credit card via the CEPS website, or by check or money order either via U.S. postal mail or in person. Payment must be received in full in advance of a course start date.  CEPS reserves the right to deny any student entry to a course for nonpayment.

You may pay in person at the CEPS office in Mooney Hall, Room 312, Monday through Friday, from 8:45 AM to 4:45 PM.

Returned Checks

Checks returned unpaid from a bank for any reason are subject to a $35 returned check fee.All CEPS students will be notified by letter of any returned checks received by the Office of the Bursar.Students may not re-register for classes until after their account is settled.A registration hold will be placed on the student's record until the balance is resolved through an alternate payment method.Alternate payment methods are credit card, money order, or cashier/bank check.


Tuition Refund Policy

Withdrawal from a Course

The Division of Continuing Education and Professional Studies (CEPS) only accepts written withdrawal requests from students who have enrolled in our courses.Withdrawal requests will not be granted over the telephone.Students who call to request a refund will be asked to fax their request in writing, e-mail their request, drop it off to the CEPS offices, or send it via U.S. mail.

Refunds

Once a student enrolls in a course, he or she agrees to CEPS and University refund policies.Non-credit course refunds are processed according to the CEPS Refund Policy; students should consult the website of the Office of the Bursar for information about refunds for credit-bearing courses. It is the responsibility of the student to understand the terms of the appropriate refund policy before enrolling and agreeing to make any type of payment for a course.In most cases, refunds are processed in four to six weeks.

  • Notification must be received in writing at least two weeks (10 business days) prior to the course start date in order to receive a full refund, minus a $50.00 processing fee.  If notification is received in writing less than two weeks (10 business days) prior to the course start date, students are eligible for a 50% refund, minus a $50.00 processing fee.

  • No refunds are issued after the course start date.

Note: Refunds for some events and conferences may differ from the terms outlined in this policy.Students are encouraged to consult the website for each conference/event.

Course Cancellation

On occasion, CEPS may need to cancel a course due to insufficient enrollment, a weather emergency, or other extenuating circumstances. Courses cancelled due to insufficient enrollment will generally be cancelled seven (7) business days prior to the course start date, however, this cannot be guaranteed. If a course is cancelled, CEPS will notify each enrolled student.The student may choose to receive a full refund or a credit towards a future CEPS course.




Class Make-up Policy

In cases in which a student has missed a scheduled class session, CEPS cannot guarantee an opportunity to make-up the class session.In some cases, the student will be encouraged to attend the class session the next time that the course is offered.In other cases, individual arrangements with the course instructor may be made, however, this cannot be guaranteed.A student who has missed a class session and would like to request a make-up class session, should e-mail CEPS@shu.edu.

Please note that students who take classes as a part of a certificate program will not be awarded a certificate until all classes required as a part of the certificate have been completed.
