SetonWorldWide … A Strategic Initiative that Transforms the University
In 1995, as unprecedented shifts in the landscape of higher education brought about by advances in technology-mediated education began to unfold, the president of
Seton Hall University and its Board of Regents launched a strategic initiative that would transform the university.
Through a series of significant information technology upgrades and the application of this technology and its capabilities to teaching and learning, "a virtual university" was conceived. Flowing from this institutional commitment, a centralized structure was created to provide support for funding, building and maintaining a distance education infrastructure. Two years later, in 1997, Seton Hall’s "online campus" -- SetonWorldWide -- set in motion the impetus for the development of a select number of full degree online programs and certificates.
