The results demonstrate that the PH domain is the sole high-affinity PI(4,5)P2 binding site of PLC-delta1 and that a similar site is not present in PLC-beta1, -beta2, or -beta3. The data are consistent with the idea that the PH domain of PLC-delta1, but not the beta isozymes, directs the catalytic core to membranes enriched in PI(4,5)P2 and is subject to product inhibition.
