This article will discuss current modalities that are used in the evaluation of deep venous thromboembolism and pulmonary embolism and include ventilation/perfusion scan, ultrasonography, impedance plethysmography, pulmonary angiography and newer tests including D-dimer assays and spiral computed tomography.
