Dr. Burkey teaches Theology of Work, Catholic Evangelization, and New Evangelization and Catechesis.

Julie V. Burkey, D.Min., Coordinator, Workplace Spirituality and Evangelization Initiatives, creates programs focusing on a spirituality of work for parishes, academia and the secular workplace, and assists in the creation and facilitation of courses and workshops required for a Certificate in Evangelization. Dr. Burkey also created and facilitates the lay student leadership retreat series, Making Our Work God’s Work: Spiritual Formation for Lay Leadership in Pastoral Ministry, and serves as advisor to the lay student prayer and reflection group, Clay Lamps of Emmaus. She holds a master’s degree from Immaculate Conception Seminary School of Theology, having earned the prestigious Pope John Paul II Medal of Academic Excellence upon graduation, and a Doctor of Ministry from The Catholic University of America. She has worked with the Institute for Christian Spirituality since its inception, initially creating the core program, Finding the Work You Love, followed by several other programs on a variety of topics, including careers in Church ministry. Dr. Burkey is an adjunct professor of pastoral ministry at the Seminary, teaching the courses she created, Theology of Work, Catholic Evangelization and New Evangelization and Catechesis.
