Marcia Gardner is a certified pediatric nurse and certified pediatric nurse practitioner.

Profile

Dr. Gardner is a certified pediatric nurse and certified pediatric nurse practitioner with a broad child nursing background related to the care of developmentally vulnerable infants and children, and infants and young children with special health care needs. She is a graduate of Georgetown University, New York University, and the doctoral program at the University of Pennsylvania School of Nursing, as well as the LEND fellowship at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia, and joined the SHU faculty in September 2011. Her research interests extend to infants and children with special health care needs, mothering and parenting, as well as clinical teaching. She has been primary and co-investigator on several studies of family-related issues in developmental disabilities and autism, and has published and presented work on mothering, developmental vulnerabilities, nursing education, and research. Dr. Gardner is passionate about exploring facets of early parenthood, and about the development of nursing interventions to support effective parenting and healthy development of individuals with neurodevelopmental disabilities.
