Profile

My undergraduate major was in classical languages and philosophy at St. Bonaventure University in Western New York. After four years of theological education at the Catholic University of America in Washington, DC, I was ordained a Franciscan priest and began teaching at Siena College in Albany, NY. I also completed graduate studies in Academic Administration at the State University of New York at Albany, and subsequently completing doctoral studies in Biblical Languages and Literature at St. Louis University. After serving as Associate Professor and Department Chair in the Religious Studies Department at Siena College in Albany, NY, I became Professor and Dean of Graduate and Continuing Studies at St. Bonaventure University. Coming to Seton Hall University, I served as Provost, then as Professor in the Department of Jewish-Christian Studies, where as Department Chair I helped establish the Sister Rose Thering Endowment for Jewish-Christian Studies. I continue to serve as the Endowment's Executive Director. I also serve as Editor of Biblical Theology Bulletin, a quarterly refereed journal with worldwide distribution. I teach graduate courses in Jewish History, Cross-Cultural Analysis, Values for a Pluralistic Society, Lessons from the Holocaust, and undergraduate courses in the Interdisciplinary Studies program as well as the Journey of Transformation in the Core Curriculum program. I also teach a variety of summer courses at the College of Charleston in the Religious Studies Department.
