Diana Alvarez Amell, Ph.D.

Profile

Dr. Álvarez Amell specializes in in nineteenth century and contemporary Latin American literature and culture.

Her areas of interest are Latin American literature and cultural studies. Her work focuses in the representational constructions in fiction. Her most recent book Tres Novelas is an edited edition of three early novels by Cirilo Villaverde. She has published also El discurso de los proìlogos del Siglo de Oro: la retoìrica de la representacioìn. She is a contributing editor in the Hispanic Division of the Library of Congress. 

A literary translator, she has written also about contemporary Latin American visual arts for several literary journals. She is a regular invited contributor to Linden Lane Magazine. She is currently working on a book on Cirilo Villaverde, an author about whom she has written extensively. She teaches all levels of Spanish language, conversation, and Nineteenth to Contemporary Latin American literature and culture courses. She teaches also a course on Don Quijote.
