George Kris

Kristiane W. George, PT, PhD, PCS

Assistant Professor

Department of Physical Therapy

I have earned a Clinical Specialty Certification in Pediatrics from the American Board of Physical Therapy Specialties.

Profile

I have worked within and have been challenged by various aspects of the field of physical therapy for my entire professional life. Each experience, whether in acute care, adult rehabilitation, departmental administration and supervision, out-patient orthopedics, student mentorship within the clinical or academic setting, private practice or pediatrics, has expanded my appreciation of the tremendous responsibilities and capabilities we as health care professionals have toward working with people who are in pain, who are living with chronic disability or whose lives have been altered because of a catastrophic injury or illness. I bring this experience into my teaching as I try to connect my students to the real life impact their studies will have on the lives of others.

In the recent past, my professional learning and practice have centered exclusively on the lives of children and families who are encountering the effects of developmental or acquired disabilities. My research interests are developing toward the impact physical therapy interventions may have on the quality of life of families and children with motor disability.
