In a nursing career that spans a quarter century, Dr. Wall has held jobs in both clinical practice and education. Her clinical positions have been in academic medical centers, inner city public hospitals, and community teaching hospitals. These experiences have informed both her teaching and her research.
Dr. Wall's clinical expertise is in adult health nursing, and her research interest is chronic respiratory disease. Her interest in the measurement of clinical phenomena has led to her involvement in research studies among individuals with diabetes and heart failure. As a result of her dissertation study, Dr. Wall has become very interested in the influence of anxiety and depression in chronic illness. She began teaching in 1992, and since 2005 has been teaching full-time. The bulk of her teaching experience is at the baccalaureate level, although she has also taught Master's and Ph.D. courses. As a second degree nurse, she has a keen understanding of the importance of the liberal arts foundation in professional education.
