Sean P. Harvey's research focuses on language and race in early America.
Sean P. Harvey studies early America and Native American history, focusing on intercultural communication, ideas of language and race (philology and ethnology), and their points of intersection with U.S. colonialism and U.S. cultural and intellectual history more broadly. Harvard University Press will publish his book Native Tongues: Colonialism and Race from Encounter to the Reservation in January 2015. He serves as co-book review editor for Journal of the Early Republic.
