Department of History

I study Ottoman historiography, focusing on “the emergence of historical consciousness” among the Ottomans.

I study Ottoman historiography, mainly focusing on what is referred as “the emergence of historical consciousness” among the Ottomans. This is a fifteenth century phenomenon and my work often entails critical readings of late fifteenth century and early sixteenth century Ottoman history books. Besides this, I research early Ottoman history, biographies of Ottoman historians in general, and read theories of history.
