Hired in 1996, Dr. David S. Gelb is an Associate Professor in the Department of Accounting and Taxation. Dr. Gelb teaches graduate and undergraduate courses in Financial Accounting, Auditing and Accounting Information Systems. Dr. Gelb's research, which has focused on voluntary accounting disclosures and the benefits of information technology and is predominantly discipline-based in nature, has been published in leading journals, including the Journal of Accounting, Auditing and Finance, the Review of Accounting Studies and the Review of Quantitative Finance and Accounting. Dr. Gelb has also had his research presented at leading conferences, including the annual meetings of the American Accounting Association, and the Accounting Information Systems Educators Association. Dr. Gelb helped design the accounting information courses that are now required of all accounting majors and has introduced many innovations into the auditing and AIS curriculum, including the use of practical, hands-on case studies and Lecture 123.
