Hired in 1976, Dr. Sheldon Epstein is a full Professor in the Department of Computing and Decision Sciences. His primary teaching assignment is the quantitative component of the integrated graduate course, Quantitative Methods and Information Technology. He demonstrates the power of quantitative decision making in his courses by using many cases he has worked on as a consultant to industry and government and which have appeared in top tier academic journals. He also uses digitized tapings of his lectures to offer his course in off campus programs run by the School. Dr. Epstein's research interests center on quantitative reasoning in law and biblical studies. His research, which includes both contributions to practice and to the scholarship of teaching, has appeared in the Journal of College Teaching and Learning, Tradition, and Hakirah and he has also presented his research at the annual meetings of the Northeast Decision Sciences Institute.
