VALE Faculty Reciprocal Borrowing
University Libraries

Seton Hall faculty and students may apply for access and borrowing privileges at 45 New Jersey college and university libraries. VALE Reciprocal Borrowing is an outgrowth of cooperation among members of the Virtual Academic Library Consortium (VALE) of which Seton Hall University is a founding participant.

Faculty and students who borrow materials from the participating libraries are responsible for complying with the lending library's circulation policies, including loan periods, overdue fines, recalls, all replacement and processing fees, and for returning all borrowed items directly to the lending library.

Libraries Participating in this Program
There are currently 45 participating colleges and university libraries around New Jersey, including the Alexander Library at Rutgers University in New Brunswick and UMDNJ at Newark.

How to Apply for Access/Borrowing Privileges

  1. Contact Paul Chao in the University Library (973) 761-9445 or e-mail Paul.Chao@shu.edu to obtain an application form. Paul Chao must sign the form since he is the authorized coordinator for this service. Be prepared to show your current SHU ID.

  2. At the participating library's Circulation Desk, present the signed application form along with a photo ID. The participating library will issue you borrowing privileges and/or a guest borrower card valid through June 30. Privileges are for one academic year and expire on June 30.
