Admissions
Early Review: November 1; Application Deadline: April 15

The School of Health and Medical Sciences requires a baccalaureate degree from an accredited institution.  However, undergraduate students may enter by enrolling in a six-year dual degree program.  A Bachelor of Science is awarded by Seton Hall at the completion of four years of study, and the Master of Science in Physician Assistant is awarded at the completion of the sixth year of study.  Special consideration given to students enrolled in the dual degree program at Seton Hall University or the affiliated programs at the College of St. Elizabeth, Monmouth University, and St. Peter's College.

In addition, the School of Health and Medical Sciences also requires the following:

  • Completion of the following courses with a grade of C or better:

Human Anatomy & Physiology (8 credits)
Microbiology (4 credits)
Chemistry (8 credits)
Precalculus (3 credits)
General Biology (4 credits)
Psychology (3 credits)

All science courses listed above must include a laboratory. All courses must be completed no later than ten (10) years prior to application.  Students with incomplete prerequisites may apply; however, they must state how they will satisfy the prerequisites by the end of the spring semester prior to the start of the program.

  • Grade point average (GPA) of 3.0 or better
  • Graduate Record Examination (GRE) within the past five years
  • Student must read, sign, understand and meet the Standards of Essential Functions of the School of Health and Medical Sciences and the MSPA program. (Note: to download a copy of this file right-click on the title and save as to your computer.)
  • Health care experience (Minimum 100 hours required)
  • Three letters of recommendation
  • TOEFL score (foreign students only)
  • Personal interview (required of those applicants being considered for admission)

No advanced placements, transfer credit, or credit for experiential learning will be granted.

Employment During The Academic Year

Acceptance into the program requires a full-time commitment to your studies.  The program recommends that students do not engage in outside employment during the academic year.
