Overview
The Police Graduate Studies Program M.A. in Human Resources Training Development for Law Enforcement Personnel, offered through Seton Hall University's College of Education and Human Services, emphasizes the development of leadership, management and policy skills, which helps students strengthen their professional knowledge and skills and increases their capacity for leadership in their respective law enforcement settings. Established more than 25 years ago, the program is designed primarily for qualified law enforcement officers; criminal justice professionals; and government employees at the federal, state, county and municipal levels in New York and New Jersey. Certificate programs in Human Resources Training and Development and Leadership and Management are also offered. Additionally, the Police Graduate Studies Program offers the Educational Specialist (Ed.S.) degree to qualified applicants. Students enrolled in this program receive a 50% discount on tuition.
 
Locations
Students may attend classes on Seton Hall's main campus in South Orange or at the following locations throughout the state:

  • Buena Vista  -- New Jersey State Police Troop “A” Headquarters;
  • Fort Lee  -- Port Authority of NY and NJ, George Washington Bridge (weekends);
  • Newark  -- Newark International Airport;
  • North Brunswick  -- North Brunswick Police Headquarters;
  • Totowa  -- New Jersey State Police Troop “B” Headquarters; and
  • Sea Girt  -- New Jersey State Police Training Center.

 
Who Should Apply?
Applicants to the program must hold a baccalaureate degree from an accredited college/university looking to enhance their leadership capacity. For specific application procedures, see admissions.
 
The Program
The Police Graduate Studies Program M.A. in Human Resources Training Development for Law Enforcement Personnel is a 36-credit program that can be completed within two years. The program's curriculum emphasizes effective management and supervision techniques and uses state-of-the-art technology. As a result students, develop skills that strengthen their abilities to manage every organization's most valuable asset  -- people.
 
Classes are conveniently scheduled Monday through Thursday in the evenings and on weekends. Students are also offered two 12-credit certificate programs in Human Resources Training and Development or Leadership and Management.
