How Do I Apply?
Submit an online application.
 
To request a printed application, please email educate@shu.edu and refer to the Ed.S. in Bilingual/Bicultural Education program OR refer to the MA/Ed.S Principal/Supervisor program.

Application Deadlines
There is a rolling admission.

When Will You Make a Decision on My Application?
Candidates are admitted to the program on an ongoing basis after careful screening of application documents.
 
A decision regarding admissions will be made within 2 weeks of receiving your application and all other required documentation.
 
Additional Required Documents

  • M.A. degree in a relevant area of education
  • Demonstrate native or near-native command of English and the target language (Mandarin, Cantonese Korean, Japanese, Haitian Creole, Portuguese or Spanish)
  • GPA of 3.0 or better
  • Three years of teaching and/or administrative experience in a relevant work setting where bilingual/bicultural skills were used.
  • Written examples of previous academic work showing research ability in the field of education and Bilingual/Bicultural education
  • Statement of professional goals and rationale for applying to the program
  • Miller Analogies Test (MAT) or Graduate Record Examination (GRE) scores, within the past 5 years.
  • Personal interview showing knowledge of bilingual/bicultural education, as well as competency in the language considered the target of service.
  • Commitment to bilingual/bicultural education as reflected in educational and professional past experience.
  • US citizen or permanent residency status.
  • Three letters of recommendation, including one form present employer and tow from professors who can evaluate professional competence of the applicant.
  • A $50 non-refundable fee

  • Official undergraduate and graduate transcripts from each college or university attended
  • Miller Analogies Test (MAT) or Graduate Record Examination (GRE) scores, within the past 5 years.
  • A $50 non-refundable fee

 
Admissions Criteria and Prerequisites

Students who want to participate in the National Professional Development Program must complete the requirements of the department necessary to receive the Ed.S. degree in Education, Leadership, Management and Policy and take specialized course to fulfill the competencies in bilingual/bicultural Education.
