Overview
The Ed.D. in K-12 School Administration, offered through Seton Hall University's College of Education and Human Services, is designed to provide administrative and supervisory skills for potential and practicing administrators in K-12 education. The program of study focuses on training informed leaders through the utilization of scholarly research and theoretical models, which are applied to experiential situations. This program is offered in the traditional on-campus format, hybrid (in-seat and online), and weekends or the Executive Ed.D. program, which is a two-year on-campus accelerated doctoral program.

Individuals with a master's degree in an appropriate field with a resume of professional background, who wish to pursue a Doctor of Education with concentration in K-12 School Administration, should apply to this program. For specific application procedures, click on admission.
 
The Program
The Ed.D. in K-12 School Administration is a 45-54 credit program that consists of foundations/interdisciplinary studies and elementary, secondary and higher education administration courses, as well as a research requirement. Doctoral students are considered for matriculation after completing 15 core course credits and by demonstrating core competence by successfully passing a qualifying written examination. Upon completion of most graduate work, doctoral students must pass a comprehensive performance-based assessment to advance to candidacy. Students, with departmental approval, determine the form of the assessment, i.e., portfolio assessment, case studies, written examination, etc.  For detailed program requirements, click on curriculum.
 
Career Advancement
Graduates who earn the Ed.D. in K-12 School Administration are working in key leadership positions, such as superintendent, state departments of education, foundations, central office leader and key building-based assignments, and in school districts around the country.
