As the realm of modern diplomacy expands to include a growing range of issues, international events are having a direct and immediate impact on our daily lives. This creates a fluid environment of risks and opportunities where careful judgements and difficult tradeoffs must be made in constantly changing circumstances. Professionals in many fields are finding that an understanding of global affairs is essential for career advancement. The Whitehead School of Diplomacy and International Relations is uniquely positioned to provide students with the knowledge and critical skills vital to international careers in government, business, and the nonprofit sector.
The Program
Our 45 credit Masters of Arts program, emphasizing an interdisciplinary approach, provides a deep understanding of critical global issues and policies through specialized courses, skills development, leadership training, and a professional internship. Joint degree offerings that combine the M.A. in Diplomacy and International Relations with law, business, public administration, strategic communications, and Asian studies give our students the edge to take the next step in their career path.
At the Whitehead School, graduate students of diverse cultural, educational, and professional backgrounds form an international academic community. Small classes create a supportive environment that encourages mentoring relationships that continue beyond graduation.
