Seton Hall's mission is to prepare students to be servant leaders who will make a difference in the world, and the Whitehead School of Diplomacy and International Relations embraces this commitment. At the Whitehead School, students are encouraged to go beyond simply understanding how the world works to actively considering how it can be made better. The classroom experience is designed to help students become independent thinkers, active learners, and passionate global citizens. From their very first course, students are able to form their own perspectives on complex issues through hands-on learning in the form of simulations, required internships, and interactions with diplomats or distinguished professionals. Throughout their studies, students build upon theory by developing diplomatic skills such as negotiation, persuasion, leadership, and policy analysis. As a result, students from around the world are exposed to a cutting-edge curriculum that blends a deep understanding of international relations with essential real world experience.
The Program:
In pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Diplomacy and International Relations with the Whitehead School, students develop an understanding of the events, places, processes, and people that characterize world affairs. Throughout their course of study, Whitehead School students build a strong foundation in international relations, history, economics, and ethics. They master a foreign language and most importantly, they nurture a good sense of judgement and the self-confidence necessary to succeed in their future public service, business and nonprofit sector careers.
In addition to the Bachelor's degree program, the Whitehead School also offers a combined B.S./M.A. program which allows undergraduate students to earn their master's degree during an extended period of study.
