About the Petersheim Academic Exposition

Academic Expo LogoThe Annual Petersheim Academic Exposition celebrates the scholarly achievement of undergraduate and graduate students through the sights and sounds of academic knowledge and its application.  The EXPO is aligned with Seton Hall University's mission in several ways, honoring the innovative spirit of its founder, Matthew Petersheim, PhD, associate professor of chemistry, who passed away in 1998.

The EXPO Planning Committee called on students, academic departments, centers and institutes, as well as other areas of the campus community to submit presentation proposals that highlight course work, community outreach, living and working environments, and other aspects of academic life that enhance and share our knowledge with the Seton Hall University and surrounding communities.

16th Annual Petersheim Academic Exposition

The Petersheim Academic Exposition 2012: Share, Honor, Unite  will take place on Tuesday, April 17 – Saturday, April 21, 2012 in celebration of the scholastic accomplishments and academic interests of the entire Seton Hall University community, including both undergraduate and graduate students. If you want to participate in the event, the application deadline is Wednesday, March 21st. Apply now »

The Petersheim Academic Exposition steering committee encourages faculty members to support the academic exposition by incorporating student presentations within their courses this semester. Faculty Sponsors will then encourage students to present their work in research symposia, poster sessions, presentations, panel discussions, theatrical performances, art exhibits, debates, concerts and more. The steering committee encourages the incorporation of honorary ceremonies, discipline-specific speakers or other programming that may take place during and around the time of the academic exposition.

Faculty sponsors are encouraged to support students participating in TLTC workshops for developing effective posters and presentations and review the re-designed poster templates provided. The TLTC will provide raffles for students participating in the workshops. Please direct students to the workshop schedule on the web site.

Additional Information

Throughout the five-day exposition, students are invited to present oral and/or poster presentations. In the spirit of the exposition "Share, Honor, Unite" and in light of mentorship, the steering committee encourages junior and senior level students to 'share' their knowledge, expertise and skills with freshmen and sophomores while graduate students may 'share' their knowledge, expertise and skills with undergraduate students. Students may 'honor' mentors, whether fellow students or faculty, and students and faculty 'unite' in their efforts to "bring knowledge to life" that elevates academic inquiry, interest and recognition.
