Graduate Program Overview
The Department of Biological Sciences offers a Master of Science (M.S.) in Microbiology, and trains students in basic research and teaching for careers in academic institutions or the biotechnology industry. This program also provides a solid foundation for entry into Ph.D. programs. Evening and weekend classes are available.
The master’s degree in microbiology has two programs of study:
1. A laboratory experience-based program that requires a microbiology research thesis. This program is recommended for students who intend to continue their studies in microbiology/biotechnology at the doctoral level or pursue a career in research.
2. A coursework oriented degree program that includes a library thesis.
Evening and weekend classes are available to accommodate both full-time and part-time students.

This new Science and Technology Center will provide students and faculty with an additional 35,000 square feet of space. With its flexible labs, glass walls and “green” approach, this landmark building will power science and technology partnerships and education and discovery.
