Summer in Alicante - 2009

The Department of Modern Languages of Seton Hall University is pleased to offer this coming Summer a total immersion 6 credits Spanish language and culture program at the Universidad de Alicante, one of Spain’s most modern universities. The program provides a unique opportunity for a short-term intensive study of Spanish language and culture, and at the same time students will enjoy this lively, beautiful, and vibrant Mediterranean city on Spain’s famous and sunny Costa Blanca, near the Spanish city of Valencia, site of one of Europe’s best beaches and home of the exquisite national Spanish dish, paella, and the dessert turrón. Classes will meet every day (Monday to Friday) for three and a half hours, and will be taught by Prof. Daniel Zalacaín, from Seton Hall University, and a distinguished faculty member from the Universidad de Alicante. There are scheduled group visits to Madrid, Toledo, and Barcelona. During weekends, students can take advantage of the daily shuttle ferry connections between Alicante and the Balearic islands of Majorca, Menorca, and Ibiza in the Mediterranean Sea, and of the easy access by bus to Valencia, Granada, and Seville. Housing and meals are included in the program fee. Students live in Spanish-speaking homes with all meals taken at the place of residence. All students take public transportation to the Universidad de Alicante.

Brittany, Normandy, Provence and the French Riviera are all within reach via weekend excursions. Classes will meet every day (Monday through Friday) and will be taught by Dr. Anne Mullen-Hohl, from Seton Hall University, and by distinguished faculty members from the Sorbonne.
