College of Arts and Sciences
About the Department

The Department of Mathematics and Computer Science offers programs of study leading to the degrees Bachelor of Science in Mathematics and Bachelor of Science in Computer Science.

The department aims to develop students’ analytical skills and attitudes necessary for the effective understanding and application of mathematics and computer science.

A variety of program options are available for undergraduates majoring in mathematics or computer science. Students’ programs are determined in consultation with a faculty adviser from the department and tailored to each undergraduate’s career goals. With the proper choice of electives, students will be prepared to enter teaching, industry or graduate study in mathematics, computer science, business, law or medicine. Programs for undergraduates majoring in secondary education with mathematics as a teaching field are determined in consultation with a faculty adviser from the Department of Educational Studies in the College of Education and Human Services, as well as the Department of Mathematics and Computer Science.
