In addition to the general University requirements for admission to graduate study, the Department of English requests 21 undergraduate credits in English and American literature.

Applicants must submit a short essay explaining their reasons for applying to the program and describing their goals. GRE scores are required.

The deadline for graduate applications is July 1 for the fall semester. Applications for teaching assistantships are due by March 15. Applications are also accepted for the spring semester and are due by November 1.
