  • May 14-27, 2008. Tour leader for Israel Study Tour in honor of Sr. Rose Thering.
  • August 2-5, 2008. Attended the Catholic Biblical Association annual meeting at Fordham University, New York.  Participated in the Task Force on the Social Sciences and New Testament Interpretation. This year's focus was on “Collectivist and Individualist Societies.”
  • September 7-10, 2008 Presented “The Gift of Responsibility and Its Implications for Jewish-Christian-Muslim Relations” at the Abrahamic Family Reunion Conference at the Fetzer Institute, Kalamazoo, MI.


Rabbi Alan Brill

  • July 16-18, 2008. Participated in World Conference for Dialogue in Madrid, Spain.  The event was sponsored by King Abdullah of Saudi Arabia.  Rabbi Brill was interviewed by the Jewish Standard about this event.
  • October 6, 2008. Presented the lecture “Is there still a Mystery to Mysticism after Modernity?” as the Fall Gannon Lecture at Fordham University.
  • October 9, 2008. Gave the Kol Nidrei sermon at Davar Congregation, Teaneck, NJ
  • November 18, 2008. Will deliver a lecture on “Family in Abrahamic Religions” at the Interfaith Dialogue Center, Felician College.
  • December 2008. Will participate in the conference “Holy Land and Sacred Space in the Three Faiths” in Rome.  The conference is sponsored by the Catholic University of America and Liberia Università Maria SS. Assunta.
  • December 2008. Will participate in Imams and Rabbis for peace at Hommes de Parole, Paris.
  • December 25, 2008. Will lecture on “Madonna, Meditation and Science” at Congregation Beth El, South Orange
  • February 3, 2009. Will present “What is Kabbalah?” at Or Zarua in Manhattan, NY.


Rabbi Asher Finkel

  • June 8, 2008. Lectured on “Variants of the Two Recensions of the Decalogue in the Torah” during the Torah Scholarship program with the Chief Rabbis of Israel  at Yeshurun Central Synagogue Yeshurun of Jerusalem. 
  • July 15, 2008. Lectured on “The Talmudic Presentation of the Patriarch Rabbi Yehudah’s Mishnaic Work” at the celebration of the completion of the study of Tractate Sotah at Yeshurun Central Synagogue Yeshurun of Jerusalem. 
  • September 30, October 1, 9, 2008. Presided over the High Holiday Services at the Sixth Street Community Synagogue and Ruskin Center.
  • October 13 – October 22, 2008.  Offered lectures at the Young Israel of Vacation Village during the Festival of Tabernacles.
  • November 24, 2008.  Will deliver a paper on “The Significant Dynamics of Masorah as Attested in Early Rabbinic Texts, Qumranic Pesharim and the Teachings of Jesus” at Institute of Masoretic Studies Annual meeting held in conjunction with the Society of Biblical Literature meeting, Boston, MA.

  • September 11, 2008. Presented on Healing through Literature at the South Orange Public Library Annual September 11th Community Commemoration.
  • October  27, 2008. Participant in the Catholic-Orthodox Jewish Dialogue in New York City.

  • September 17, 2008. Rabbi Finkel was honored at the Jubilee of Rabbinic Ordination celebration at the Yeshiva University Banquet at the Grand Hyatt in New York.
  • March 18, 2008. Fr. Lawrence Frizzell was appointed consultant to the Holy See’s Commission for Religious Relations with the Jews for five years.
