Learn from such professors as:

  • Sulie Chang, Ph.D., professor of biological sciences, who has made important findings related to addictive drugs and received multimillion-dollar grant funding from the National Institutes of Health. She and her colleagues have set the course of biological research at the University by implementing a Ph.D. program in molecular bioscience.
  • Manfred Minimair, Ph.D., assistant professor of mathematics and computer science, who studies symbolic computation. His research to simplify and solve systems of equations that arise in science and engineering applications such as robotics and chemical modeling is partly sponsored by the National Science Foundation.
  • Susan A. Nolan, Ph.D., associate professor of psychology and associate dean for graduate studies; Janine P. Buckner, Ph.D., associate professor of psychology; and Cecilia H. Marzabadi, Ph.D., associate professor of chemistry and biochemistry who are researching social and cognitive psychology explanations for gender differences in the fields of science technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM). Their research is partly sponsored by the National Science Foundation.
  • Mehmet A. Sahiner, Ph.D., assistant professor of physics, whose project on pulsed laser thin film deposition and structural characterization of semiconductor materials will change computer technology as we know it. This project is partly sponsored by the National Science Foundation.

Our faculty give undergraduate and graduate students the opportunity to perform research in state-of-the-art facilities and experience presenting research at national conferences and in national research journals. Our research opportunities are a key to your professional success.
