Rev. Eugene J. Cotter (1931-2005)
Rev. Eugene J. Cotter, Chairman of the Classical Studies Department at Seton Hall University, was a pioneer in the use of computers as teaching and research tools in classics. Fr. Cotter spent almost 60 years at Seton Hall, entering the Preparatory School at the age of 14, and then earning his undergraduate degree and one of his graduate degrees at the University. From 1956 until 1964 he taught Latin and Greek at the Prep, then moved to the Classical Studies Department at the University, where he taught for 40 years, serving five terms as Chairman. His legacy to the department is an extensive collection of electronic resources and links on the Greek and Roman world, which forms the basis for this website.
